Joe Pulizzi, the founder of the Content Marketing Institute (CMI) and author of Epic Content Marketing, has studied thousands of companies that are using a content-based strategy for their marketing.

Based on his research, Pulizzi says, “You can use original content to drive revenue for your brand.”

The question is: How do you get that original content? How do you access and articulate your best ideas and insights?

At the Institute for Thought Leadership, we specialize in helping you find and frame the stories that position you or your company as a thought leader in your niche.

By offering unique solutions for the needs and problems faced by your core audience, you become a visible expert, instead of an invisible one.

One great way to mine your ideas and insights is with freewriting.

That’s why we gather every Friday, rain or shine, for a freewriting session.

Sometimes we’re just one or two people, sometimes we’re a larger group. Just show up. There’s no obligation.

What: Freewriting Fridays, led by Rhea Wessel, Founder and Head of The Institute for Thought Leadership

At Freewriting Fridays, we meet virtually to kickstart the idea and story-finding process. We use our sessions to reflect and write about our businesses.

Have to turn in a report soon? Giving a speech next month? Want to get that LinkedIn article done? Need to generate a list of story ideas or work on your messaging?

Then join us to get your creative juices flowing.

You will NOT be asked to read any of your writing. However, you may share about your process if you wish.

Who: People employed in companies or working indpendently

When: 5:00 p.m. Central European Time

11:00 a.m. Eastern

8:00 a.m. Pacific

Where: A zoom conference call

How: We’re still working on our automated sign-up. For now, please email Rhea (rhea@rheawessel.com) to get the link.

How long: The sessions last 50 minutes, but you do not have to stay the entire time. However, it’s important that you be on time.

How much: Free

What to expect: The focus of the group is on business writing and thought-leadership writing.

The first 10 minutes of the session are used to get settled and make sure everyone has selected a topic for their freewriting session. In this first 10 minutes, Rhea may share some of the ideas she’s developing in her book Write Like a Thought Leader. She will also answer any questions you have about the process of focused freewriting.

If you don’t know what you will write about, don’t worry. Rhea will give you a prompt.

Focused freewriting about your business is like magic. You will walk away clearer about what you want to say or with many fresh ideas about how to approach your subject.

Once we begin freewriting, everyone will be on mute. The net writing time is 30 minutes. At minute 40, you will have a chance to share about your process if you wish.

As mentioned, you will NEVER be asked to read what you write and disclose your ideas if you’re not comfortable with that.

The last 10 minutes of the session are for sharing about the process and networking.
